- Master in Computer Application (MCA) under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is a two years program to develop IT professionals.
- In the two years of study, the focus is on training the students of the program in the core courses, elective courses and designing information systems and its applications.
- The courses are intellectually demanding and are taught by faculty who encourage active student participation in the classrooms through discussions, quizzes, assignments, projects, etc.

Candidates who passed MCA are hired as software developer, database engineer, cloud architect, web developer (or designer), IT architect, software consultant, network engineer, social media manager, ethical hacker and others. The MCA Program is organized into 4 semesters in two years. There are 34 courses including Soft Skills and Management theses. Students are additionally required to go through a Summer Internship project.

Note: The Courses Communication Skills and Fundamentals of Information Technology are Compulsory/ Mandatory Courses under the Ability Enhancement Course and Skill Enhancement Course respectively under CBCS for MCA Program.

- The Core Courses are designed in a way to have both Theory and Practical Components
- Separate Exams will be held for both Theory and Practical Exams of each Course
- The Practical Component will be of 100 Marks (70 Marks for Practical and 30 Marks for Viva Voce)
- SI will be conducted in IT Solution Outlets or other Allied Agencies where IT is always required
- The Supervisors for the SI will be one each from the University (Faculty Supervisor) and a Company Supervisor from the Outlet assigned to the student to complete the Internship
- The existing SI Guidelines will be used to guide the students
- There will be a PW to be completed by the students in Year II (4th Semester)
- The PW will be based on a research topic to be finalized by the students in consultation with the Faculty Guide
- The Guidelines for PW will be the as designed by the University
- The PW shall be based Practical aspects. The PW will be evaluated on Practical aspects, Report, Final Presentation and Viva-Voce.
Admission Modalities
The Admission Modalities are with reference to the campus-based programs offered by the ICFAI University, Meghalaya at Tura & Shillong campuses. The medium of instruction is English.
Eligibility
Pass in Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 45% marks. Final year degree students awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
For the purpose of determining eligibility based on aggregate percentage of marks, the procedure used by the respective university in award of the degree will only be taken into consideration. All applicants should have completed a minimum of 15 years of formal schooling by July 18, 2025. Applicants who have completed their graduation on a one-time sitting basis or on a 2-year basis are not eligible for admission to the MCA Program.
Students in their final year bachelor’s degree course are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their graduation requirements including practical examinations/viva assignments before July 18, 2025. Such applicants will have to produce a certificate to that effect at the time of admission. The admission of applicants will, however, remain provisional until they produce mark sheets and a degree certificate establishing their eligibility. The registration of the candidates not meeting the criteria / non-submission of graduation transcripts by September 16, 2025 will be cancelled and admission fee will be forfeited and only 50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying the cancellation of the seat by the University.
Spot admission will be given to deserving students.
The selection of applicants into the Program is made through screening of application and interview. While evaluating students for admission, due weightage is given to their academic distinction, awards in sports/cultural events, debates, quizzes and other extra co-curricular activities
Original certificates and Domicile certificate should be produced for verification at the time of payment of first semester fee. The original certificates will be returned after verification.
There shall be a special provision for admission of students belonging to the State of Meghalaya in any course of ICFAI University, Meghalaya, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) percent of seats in each course / discipline subject to the students meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred to above.
Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to students belonging to Open Category.

Applicants applying online should attach their scanned colour photograph along with the Online Application. The Prospectus will be sent to such applicants.

Fee Schedule
Fee comprises of Admission Fee and Program Fee.
Admission Fee (Non-Refundable)
Admission Fee of Rs. 15,000 for MCA Program is to be paid by all the selected candidates immediately after the admission decision is announced. *Foreign students have to pay an admission fee of Rs. 14,000 for MCA Program. The last date for payment of admission fee is August 05, 2025 for MCA Program.
Caution Deposit (Refundable)
Students have to pay Rs. 5,000 for MCA Programs as Caution Deposit along with the first installment of Program Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded without interest after adjusting for dues, if any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Students have to pay the program fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before July 28, 2025 for MCA Program.
