Library

  1. The Library at ICFAI University Meghalaya was founded in 2006 when the university was established.
  2. The library is a beautiful and functional building located on the third floor of the university building. It covers an area of 2,350.748 square feet and can accommodate 80+ users.
  3. The library serves the needs of the university's students, faculties, and research scholars. It supports the classroom teaching programs and helps to expand knowledge through the research programs conducted by the university.
  4. The library housed text books, derivative books, reference books, newspapers, magazines, and audio-visual documents, etc.
  5. The Library organized books and other information resources applying DDC Classification Scheme 22nd edition.
  6. The Library also provides online access of e-journals, e-books, Thesis/Dissertations, 4,00,00,000+ Books available for loan, Manuscripts, Rare Books & Archival Materials, E-Newspapers through Developing Library Network (DELNET).
  7. British Council Digital Library online resource that provides access to a wide range of digital content, including books, journals, magazines, newspapers, films, music, and more.

The library has subscriptions to 4 magazines. Additionally, the library has chosen to display 114 magazine titles. These displayed magazines could cover various subjects and may include both current and back issues.

In total, the library has access to 44 journal subscriptions (38 national and 6 international) and we have displayed 112 journal titles for patrons to access easily. This indicates a significant collection of journals available for use by library users.

  1. Strict Discipline and Silence are to be observed in the library.
  2. Students are prohibited to carry Bags inside the library for Security reasons.
  3. Students are requested not to reshelve any books/journals/magazines.
  4. Each Student would be issued three books at a time for a period of 15 days.
  5. Re-issue of books by students may be allowed maximum twice more after first issue.
  6. Failure to return the books on due date would compulsorily lead to penalty of Rs. 2 per day for all the students.
  7. Dictionaries, Encyclopedia, Journals & Magazines etc would not be issued. These are to be consulted within the library premises only.
  8. In case a user loss a book or damage he/she has to either replace the book or deposit the three times the price of the book in the library.
  9. Students are requested to handle books and reading materials very carefully.
  10. A marking library books with Pencil or ink, tearing the paper or spoiling the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case the last reader will be held responsible unless He/She shows the librarian at the time of issue that the books had been previously marked or damaged. In the event of Damage any kind, the last reader will be liable to compensate for damage. Books will have to be replaced.
  11. Private Conversations are not permitted. Even talking in whisper or Standing and Chatting may disturb to others. Strictly prohibited from doing the above.
  12. Using of Mobile Phones is prohibited. Switch off your mobile phones and keep it in your bag, etc while you are in the library.
  13. Any Guest who want to visit to library needs to seek permission of Registrar/Librarian.
  14. The guest does not have right to barrow any item of Library.
  15. The Librarian reverse the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving with the library staff or with any other member.
  16. If any Student found default thrice, he/she will not be allowed to Issue any Book for same semester No Dues/ Clearance.
  17. Library shall not be responsible for any loss or damages of the personal belongings of the user.
  18. On Leaving the library all users are required to produce for inspection of all books and items taken out of the library.
